Lambay Rowing Challenge is a new rowing event, run by Fingal Rowing Club to support the newest club on the East Coast of Ireland. The event will be held on Sept 28th 2019 starting at Rush Sailing Club
This is rowing event for experienced ocean rowing vessels only, with a distance of approx 19km of open sea to navigate the rowers will attempt to circumnavigate Lambay Island. This challenge is not for the faint of heart and will push all the crews to their limit.
The Lambay Rowing Challenge – is Fingal County’s very own open water rowing challenge which will attract hundreds of participants. Started in 2018, it is an all-inclusive rowing, embracing everything from traditional wooden working boats, currachs, skiffs, singles, gigs and longboats.
The Lambay Rowing Challenge is a 19km open water race from Rush Sailing Club will take place on March 31st 2018. Boats will launch at 9:00 and depart at 10:00 ahead of the 12:33 high tide at Rush Sailing Club, Rush, Co. Dublin:

On the day:
Once you have arrived please go to registration and take instruction from stewards and registration people. You will need to have paid €25 per rower to get your bow numbers.
Enclosed parking for trailers is available in and around Rush Sailing Club, please follow signs and directions as given by our marshalls. There will be a BBQ and refreshments available at the club house after the race – all are welcome!

The event is hosted by Fingal Rowing Club and is one of the most challanging open water rowing races.
Clubs from all over the country and international crews will be present and compete in the event. This means we will be limited to 24 boats! We will use over 10 boats to provide safety cover. These boats will be manned by over 30 volunteers including the members of the Civil Defence who will be providing First Aid and Ambulance cover. Timers, marshals, slip stewards and traffic management will demand 15+ additional volunteers. A total involvement of in excess of 500 people and then there are the supporters and spectators who will come to view and support the days racing!
